The second annual Ride for Autism, with proceeds to benefit Angels with Autism, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Cyclist Connection Bike Shop, 200 Cemetery Road in Canal Winchester.

The second annual Ride for Autism, with proceeds to benefit Angels with Autism, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Cyclist Connection Bike Shop, 200 Cemetery Road in Canal Winchester.

Angels with Autism supports national autism research and the Nationwide Children's Hospital Autism Center.

Participants can choose to ride a 10-, 30- or 60-mile route. Registration fees are $25 per rider through Aug. 2, and $35 per rider on the day of the event.

"Dig it for the House," a co-ed volleyball tournament to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities, will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at Flannagan's Pub, 6835 Caine Road in Columbus.

Teams can enter to play for fun or select a competitive bracket. Play will begin at 9 a.m.

Named in honor of Lawrence Corcoran, the awards recognize the work of five local people in the fields of mental health, children's causes, early childhood or elementary education, social justice and the work of the church.

Run Wild Racing will host the inaugural Spirit of Columbus Half Marathon and FrontRunner Relay on Sunday, Aug. 31, in Columbus.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., the course will take runners from Scioto Park in Dublin along Riverside Drive with the finish at North Bank Park in downtown Columbus. Top professionals will compete for a $25,000 purse. Contestants in the master (40+) and wheelchair racer divisions will compete for separate $5,000 purses.

Runners can run the entire half-marathon, or a two-person relay team each can run a quarter-marathon.
