A Lego contest for children ages 7 to 12 will be held Aug. 9-10 at Wagnalls Memorial Library, 150 E. Columbus St., Lithopolis.

Building times will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 10. Awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10.

Congregation Tifereth Israel, 1354 E. Broad St., will offer an introduction to Judaism class beginning at 11:15 A.M. Sunday, Aug. 22. Rabbi Michael Ungar will teach the class, which will meet on Sundays throughout the year for at least 25 sessions.

The class is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about Judaism, and covers Jewish theology and philosophy, literature, Sabbath and holidays, dietary laws and more. Additional "crash courses" in Jewish history and Hebrew reading will be offered on Monday evenings.

Pecha Kucha Columbus will host its 14th event at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Junctionview Studios, 889 Williams Ave., Grandview.

"Pecha Kucha" means "sound of conversation" in Japanese.

Local band Shin Tower Music will kick off the evening. Pecha Kucha presentations begin at 8:30 p.m.

Presenters include Charles Erickson of Small Business Beanstalk, Walker Evans of themetropreneur.com and cartoonist Talcott Starr.

Rad Dogveg, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams and Pattycake Bakery will sell refreshments, and guests of drinking age may bring their own alcoholic beverages. Members of Super Collider Theater will perform during intermission.

Artwork organized by the Couchfire Collective will be on display inside Junctionview, and THOUGHTco will be available to screen print T-shirts.
