Volunteers pulled 122 tires out of Walnut Creek during an Oct. 16 tire sweep sponsored by Canal Winchester and Franklin County Metro Parks.

Fourteen people helped with the clean-up, including volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 103, the Walnut Creek Action Group, Canal Winchester Rotary and several residents.

Last year, the event drew about a dozen volunteers who pulled 150 tires from the creek

The tire sweep is part of Canal Winchester's stormwater management plan that requires the village involve the public in storm cleanup, urban forester Dick Miller said.
