The Canal Winchester school district will hold its first Black History Month celebration at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at the high school auditorium.

The Canal Winchester school district will hold its first Black History Month celebration at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at the high school auditorium.

The free event is open to the public.

According to organizers, the program will "celebrate and heighten the awareness of significant historic African-American individuals who helped shape and better their nation."

The high school is located at 300 Washington St.

Welsh to speak at

church March 5

Faith United Methodist Church, 15 W. Columbus St., will host speaker and storyteller Bob Welsh Saturday, March 5.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., with Welsh's program to follow at 7 p.m.

His presentation, "Values to Live By," is described as "heartwarming, educational and humorous."

Tickets are $6. Children age 6 and younger are admitted free.
