Two incumbent Democrats on the Franklin County Board of Commissioners will face no opposition in the March 6 primary.

They will look to retain one-party control of the three-member board in November, when only one, Paula Brooks, will face a Republican challenger, James M. Pfaff.

Brooks, the current board president, was first elected as commissioner in 2004. In 2010, she ran an unsuccessful campaign to unseat Republican U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi in the 12th Ohio House District.

Brooks, 58, received her bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and law degree from Capital University. She lives on Benderton Court in Upper Arlington.

Pfaff is a former Air Force colonel. Franklin County voter registration records indicate he is 53 years old and lives on Windcliff Drive in Grove City.

The other Democrat incumbent, John O’Grady, currently is unopposed in the general election. Independent candidates must file by the March 5 deadline, according to information the Franklin County Board of Elections.

O’Grady, 48, who lives on Ridgewood Drive in Hilliard, was elected to his first term four years ago.

He was elected as a commissioner in 2008. Prior to that, he was Franklin County Clerk of Courts for eight years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio Dominican University.
