Four Canal Winchester and six Groveport school board candidates met the Aug. 7 deadline for filing petitions to be on the November ballot.
Three seats on the Canal Winchester Board of Education are up for grabs in November. Incumbents Brian Niceswanger, Debra Jackson Waites and Michael Yonnotti are seeking re-election; newcomer Jonathan Metzler also filed a nominating petition by the Aug. 7 deadline.
Three seats are also available on the Groveport Board of Education, but only two of the current board members are seeking another term in office: Nancy Gillespie and Bryan Shoemaker. Longtime board member Charlotte Barker is not seeking re-election.
Other candidates who filed petitions are Randy Blamble, Libby Gray, Jason Hovance and Rebecca (Martin) Vanest.
Ben Piscitelli, public information officer for the Franklin County Board of Elections, said the board is reviewing the petitions and will validate them on or before Aug. 19.
The names of candidates whose petitions are certified will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot.
