Oct. 28 program to focus on elderly protection

Bloom Township Trustees Carol Moore, Brian Randles and Jason Smith, in collaboration with Lithopolis Mayor Eric Sandine, The Wagnalls Memorial and Fairfield County Prosecutor's Office, are holding a community meeting on "Protecting the Elderly."

Investigator David Kessler of the Fairfield County Prosecutor's Office will be the expert guest speaker about Crimes Against the Elderly at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at the Wagnalls Memorial, 150 E. Columbus St. in Lithopolis.

Kessler was recruited by the Ohio Attorney General in 1999 to serve as chief investigator of the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit. Within this role, his primary focus became the protection of senior citizens against those who would prey upon them.

As a keynote speaker and trainer on the topic of exploitation of the elderly, he addresses all facets of these crimes, including Undue Influence, Sweetheart Swindles, Power of Attorney Thefts and Home Improvement Scams.
