Following on the heels of the Canal Winchester Art Stroll Saturday, May 10, comes the kickoff of this year's Music & Art in the Park concert series.
The first of three programs in the summer concert and art series will run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Friday, May 16, at Stradley Place, located next to the municipal building at 36 S. High St.
This annual event is free and open to the public; it features family-friendly live entertainment, children's activities and several food options.
Live music will be provided by 1970s cover band, Agent 99. Several crafts will be available for children, including a balloon animal artist and a flowerpot activity sponsored by Dill's Greenhouse. Members of the Canal Winchester Art Guild will provide live art demonstrations, and will have a variety of pieces on exhibit for viewing and purchase.
Attendees to the Music & Art in the Park concert series are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy strolling through the historic downtown businesses, and then enjoy some dinner, either purchased as carryout orders from one of the area restaurants or event vendors, or by bringing a picnic.
Fair-style food and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at Stradley Place.
Additional Music & Art in the Park concerts are scheduled June 20 and July 18.
The June 20 event will include live country music by Pickerington based musicians, The Rachel Karryn Band.
On July 18, the final event will feature music from the Gas Pump Jockeys, a natural fit for the sixth annual Cruise-In, sponsored by Jeff Wyler Chevrolet. Cruise-in participants are encouraged to register in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or may register just before the event, from 5 to 6 p.m.
Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 registrants, and awards will be presented for People's Choice, Mayor's Choice, Band's Choice, Sponsor's Choice and Furthest Traveled.
