Eastland students take part in BPA conference

Eastland Career Center sent 21 students to the Business Professionals of America's National Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Ind., April 29 through May 2.

The conference features competitions, workshops, an election and various activities for student-members.

Members taking part in the competition events had to win first place at a regionals competition for their event, then place either first or second at the state-level competition.

Groveport Madison High School students who were to compete at the conference included:

• Senior Kelly Sedmeck in Basic Office Systems & Procedures for Medical Office.

• Senior Jenifer Wilson in Medical Office Procedures for Medical Office.

• Senior Kaius Reed in Database Applications for Programming and Software Development.

• Junior Bonnie Kyle in Job Interview for Financial Services.

• Senior Mouniratou Nikiema in the Financial Analyst Team event for Financial Services.

• Juniors Jordan Garrettson, Amanda Lively and Daria Wansley in the Presentation Management Team event for Financial Services.

• Seniors Chelsea Johnson and Benny Lam in the event Video Production Team for Interactive Media.

Additionally, Nikiema was in the running for a national officer position as one of two candidates from Ohio while media junior Samantha Hawkins and financial services junior Kristina Middleton were to serve as voting delegates.
