The United Crestview Area Neighbors and the CRC will host their annual National Night Out event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Crestview Presbyterian Church, 350 E. Tulane Road.

The Clintonville Community Market will provide veggie burgers and hotdogs, and Target has provided buns and beverage. Denise's will provide ice cream.

Residents who attend the event are asked to bring a side dish to share and toiletries to donate to the CRC.

The Cat Welfare Association has extended its hours.

The no-kill shelter, 741 Wetmore Road, will be open Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. except for the first Wednesday of the month, when it will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.

In August, the shelter also will discount the cost of adopting a cat by $10. During August, adult cats can be adopted for $50, and kittens can be adopted for $60. Two cats can be adopted for a total of $100.

The adoption fee covers de-worming, flea prevention, vaccinations, feline leukemia and FIV testing, and spaying or neutering.
