Clintonville residents looking to enter the races for the Clintonville Area Commission in May can pick up packets at Whetstone Library.

This year's elections, to be held May 2, will include districts 4, 5 and 7.

Packets include information on the CAC's election bylaws and rules as well as the forms and petitions needed to run.

To qualify for candidacy, residents of those districts must fill out a petition and gather 50 signatures from other residents of their districts. Notarized copies of the election packets must be returned to the information desk at the library by 5 p.m. March 28.

Boundaries for the districts up for election this year include: in District 4, Arden Road and Hollenback Drive to the north, Oakland Park Avenue to the south, Interstate 71 to the east and the Olentangy River to the west; in District 5, Glenmont Road to the north, Arden Road to the south, Interstate 71 to the east and North High Street to the west; and in District 7, Garden Road to the north, Glenmont Road to the south, Interstate 71 to the east and North High Street to the west.

The incumbent commissioners for districts 4 and 5, Susan Gaunce and Brian Byrne, have announced that they will not run for re-election. District 7 Commissioner Dave Southan said he plans to run.

The CAC plans to have an informational session for residents running, or considering running, for the commission, but a date for that session has not been set.

Once packets are returned, the CAC Elections Committee will review and certify them.

Candidates are expected to be announced April 2, and write-in candidates must notify the elections committee of their intent to run by 5 p.m. April 3.
