Columbus Department of Public Services Director Mark Kelsey and Department of Development Director Boyce Safford will speak at a public meeting March 18 on the intersection of North High and North Broadway.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave. It is scheduled to last approximately two hours.

The city last held a public meeting on the intersection in January, during which city workers presented three proposals for the intersection: widening westbound East North Broadway at North High Street by 10 feet to allow for a left turn lane, adding a left turn lane to westbound East North Broadway without widening the intersection and leaving the intersection as is.

At that meeting, a group of angry residents, mostly from East North Broadway, yelled at city officials, fellow residents and the Clintonville Area Commission about those plans.

At the upcoming meeting, CAC Chairwoman D Searcy said the city will focus on the intersection as a whole, rather than focusing on the turn-lane issue.
In advance of the meeting, Searcy said the CAC will post a list of questions that residents have posed regarding the intersections, along with the city's responses, on the CAC Web site, www.clintonvilleareacommission.org.

Additional questions for the city can be sent to Searcy at cac.district9@sbcglobal.net before March 9, so the city can have responses at the March 18 meeting.
