Vienna Ice Café, soon to open its first location in Clintonville, will debut treats and baked goods at the sixth annual COVA-Clintonville Community Ice Cream Social on Thursday, June 16, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. June 16.

It will take place at the Center of Vocational Alternatives offices, 3770 N. High St.

The event is free and open to the public.

"Features include three flavors of ice cream, a bounce house and games for kids of all ages and music by local performers Trial and Error, Pete Frenzer and Bill Cohen," according to COVA spokeswoman Robin Hepler. "Gifts from local merchants, including a getaway stay at the University Plaza Hotel, will be awarded as door prizes throughout the event."

"We began this event as a way to get to know our Clintonville neighbors when we moved our offices from the Short North to Clintonville, and it keeps growing every year," Judy Braun, president and chief executive officer of COVA, said in a statement. "We are especially thrilled to have Vienna and co-owner Anand Saha be a partner with us in the annual event and to be the debut site for this new local, handmade ice cream."

Saha, co-owner of Mozart's Bakery and Piano Café, plans to open Vienna's first shop in July at 2899 N. High St.

"Clintonville is an excellent community and I love to give back, so I'm very excited to introduce Vienna's new, European-inspired creations to everyone at COVA's great event," Saha was quoted as saying.

"This has been a great way for people to learn about the services we offer to the public É and have some great ice cream, too," according to Braun. "We even have the frosty treats for dogs out for a walk with their owners."

The event is made possible through local business sponsors, including Custom Air, Kemba Credit Union, ThisWeek Community Newspapers, Vienna Ice Café, Food for Good Thought, the Jackson Team at Keller Williams Realty, Park Your Paws, North Broadway United Methodist Church and the University Plaza Hotel.
