Restaurants to participte in CRC holiday fundraiser
The fifth annual Holiday Fundraiser benefiting the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center is set for Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Once among the community-service endeavors of Mozart’s Bakery and Piano Café, the event was expanded last year to a new location and to include other eateries in the neighborhood.
“To my knowledge, this is one of the largest fundraisers for the year for the CRC,” commented Diane Hoenig, chairwoman of the committee putting on this year’s event.
It will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and returns to Marian Hall at Immaculate Conception Church, 414 E. North Broadway.
Co-hosts this year with Mozart’s will be Colonial Candy Shoppe, Crimson Cup, Lavash Café, McCarthy's Wildflower Café, Mama Mimi's Take 'N' Bake Pizza, Nancy's Home Cooking, O'Reilly's Pub, Patrick J's, Pattycake Bakery, Sage, Taj Mahal and Vienna Ice Café.
“It seems like it’s coming along,” Hoenig said of planning for the Holiday Fundraiser.
Anand Saha, co-owner with wife Doris of both Mozart’s and Vienna Ice Café, was, as usual, more upbeat than that.
“It is going fantastic,” he said recently. “It is going great.
“When you do so many fundraisers year after year, it just becomes normal. You get the right people in place and it’s just a smooth flow.”
Mozart’s also has sponsored a major spring fundraiser for the CRC for more than a dozen years.
“I’m so happy and fortunate that some of these other restaurants are participating,” Anand Saha said. “They are complementing this fundraiser even more with their presence.”
“Share in the merriment of delectable food and beverages, including fine wine and beers provided by Mozart’s and a number of other Clintonville-area eateries,” an announcement about the Dec. 6 event urges. “Entertainment (is) by the Mozart’s Musical Duo, as well as raffle of holiday gift items donated by Clintonville businesses and residents, all to benefit Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center.”
Admission to the event is $45 for an individual in advance, and $50 at the door that day. Couples pay $80 in advance, $100 at the door.
Sponsorships also are available. These include a $250 Neighborhood Sponsor, which includes admission for two and a listing in the program. Those at the $500 Neighborhood Champion sponsorship level receive a table for eight and sponsor acknowledgment.
The event is being promoted by the recently formed Experience Clintonville, Saha pointed out. The groups plans other community events in the remainder of 2011 and 2012.
“Experience Clintonville is going to be involved in many different areas,” he said.
