Troupe takes on Bard's comedy as 30th production
The Columbus Civic Theater enters a fifth season with the troupe's 30th production, William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, opening next Thursday, Jan. 10.
Performances will continue at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through Feb. 3.
The theater is located at 3837 Indianola Ave.
The comedy concerns twins Sebastian and Viola, who each presume the other dead in a shipwreck on the coast of a foreign land.
Shakespeare's comic trademarks of cross-dressing, mistaken identity and true love show up along with some "deliciously awkward" situations, according to Richard J. Albert, the troupe's artistic director.
Melinda Anderson directs the production. The cast's local performers include Sarah Gehring, Britt Kline, Samantha Hunter, Vern Hendrick, Christina Yoho, Rob Tromp, Jeff Loeser, John Beeler, Angie Austin, Casey May, Michael Galusick, Jordan Shear and Ilke Akcasoy.
Ticket prices range from $17.50 to $20 and are available at columbuscivic.org, by phone at (614) 447-7529, and at the box office before each performance.
