Church collects household items for disaster victims
The members of Gethsemane Lutheran Church will hold a "Stuff the Truck!" drive Saturday, April 27.
The effort to collect furniture and household items to be given to people suffering from disasters such as tornadoes, fires and floods in central and southeast Ohio will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at the church, 35 E. Stanton Ave.
The items will be distributed by Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio, said the Rev. June Wilkins.
Church members will accept furniture, collectibles, baby and children's items, large and small appliances, knick knacks, working electronics, towels, bedding, and "just about any household item that is in clean and working condition," according to the announcement.
No clothing, grownup books or used mattresses or box springs will be accepted.
Those who need items picked up from their homes may call Mary Woodward of Lutheran Social Services at 740-732-6700. Anyone who would like to volunteer may call the church at 614-885-4319 or show up the day of the event.
