The Columbus Park of Roses Volunteer Program invites hardy garden enthusiasts to help with the annual task of pruning more than 12,000 roses from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29. The park's street address is 3901 North High St., but the park entrance is on Hollenback Road.
Volunteers will work with Columbus Recreation & Parks staff gardeners to inspect roses for winter damage and prune them as needed. Other jobs include raking up canes and pulling tarps to load onto trucks.
Current Park of Roses volunteers will be on hand to help. Hot beverages and light refreshments will be served.
The group will meet in the volunteer office, located at the southern end of the large shelter house, up the stairs from the parking lot.
Those planning to attend should dress warmly and bring gloves and hand pruners, if available.
