Clintonville Go Public's second annual fundraising effort, Masquerade at Strongwater, will bring a New Orleans flair to the area Oct. 3.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at Strongwater Food and Spirits, 401 W. Town St. in the Franklinton Arts District. Tickets are $60 for couples, $35 for individuals.

Proceeds from the event will fund technological resources targeted at reducing the economic and social inequalities of the digital divide for students at Dominion Middle School and Whetstone High School, according to an announcement from the group, which promotes neighborhood public schools.

Nate Rogers, a member of the Clintonville Go Public board, said in the announcement to expect a "raucous good time," including music, food and drinks, games and dancing.

The masquerade is the second event held by the group. In 2013, Prom Remix raised more than $15,000 to renovate the library and performing-arts spaces at Dominion Middle School.

"The outpouring of collective community support for our school has made a tremendous impact on everyone at Dominion Middle School," Principal Dottie Flanagan said in a statement. "Our students, teachers and families are grateful for the Clintonville Go Public campaign that made our building more beautiful and helped elevate the dynamic programs that happen there every day."

Clintonville Go Public board member Karina Brown said the group hopes to address disparities in student experience and achievement that stem from unequal access to technology and educational field trips.

The nonprofit group was established by parents to support and promote public schools in the Whetstone High School pathway.

Event sponsors include T. Marzetti Co., Strongwater Food and Spirits, Bartha, Mozart's Bakery and Piano Cafe, and Mike McLaughlin with RE/MAX Achievers.
