Boys basketball team set to face DeSales


The Watterson High School boys basketball team is gearing up to face DeSales in a CCL game on Friday, Jan. 11, at Ohio Dominican University.

The Eagles swept the Stallions last season, winning 50-38 and 42-32 en route to capturing the CCL title.

DeSales lost to Ready 42-34 on Jan. 4 to drop to 5-5 overall and 0-3 in the CCL. Oliver Grimard had 12 points to lead the Stallions and Taz Collins scored seven.

Watterson lost to Brook-haven 59-56 on Jan. 5 to fall to 5-1 overall. Andy Greiser led the Eagles with 17 points and Cody Calhoun scored 15.

Watterson was 1-0 in the CCL before playing St. Charles on Jan. 4. The Eagles led the Cardinals 32-22 in the third quarter when play was suspended.

Girls basketball team endures first CCL loss

The girls basketball team lost to DeSales 42-35 in a CCL game on Jan. 5 to drop to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in the CCL.

Alexis Mayle had 19 points and Kayla Cook scored eight to lead the Eagles. Carly Codner-Pinto had 15 points and Miranda Johnson scored 12 for the Stallions, who outscored the Eagles 14-7 in the fourth quarter.

Watterson, which has lost four of its last six games, plays host to Westerville North on Thursday, Jan. 10. The Warriors were 9-1 before playing Worthington Kilbourne on Jan. 7.
