Softball team rebounds after sluggish start
Members of the Whetstone High School softball team didn't let an 0-4 start to the season get them down.
On April 8, the Braves shut out Mifflin 13-0 to begin a nine-game winning streak that included six shutouts over City League-North Division opponents. Their streak ended April 20 with a 6-4 loss to Watkins Memorial in the second game of a doubleheader after beating the Warriors 10-6 in the first game.
In a 15-0 win over Brook-haven on April 18, pitchers Briana Clemens and Audrey Bollas combined on a one-hitter, with Bollas picking up the victory. The two combined on a two-hitter in a 14-0 win over Northland on April 15, with Clemens earning the win.
Whetstone, which was 9-5 overall and 6-0 in the City-North before playing Centennial on April 22, is 3-5 against non-league opponents. The Braves lost to Big Walnut (13-1 on April 3), Worthington Kilbourne (5-0 on April 4), Dublin Jerome (10-0 on April 6) and Groveport (13-0 on April 6) but defeated Hamilton Township (13-0 on April 13) and Grandview (10-1 on April 13) before splitting with Watkins Memorial.
Whetstone will play host to Dublin Coffman in its final non-league game of the regular-season Tuesday, April 30.
Baseball team rolling in City-North play

The teams meet again Wed-nesday, May 1, at Northland.
Boys tennis team off to strong start
The boys tennis team played what was expected to be the toughest part of its City League schedule when it faced Centennial on April 22 and Columbus West on April 24.
Last season, Whetstone lost to West 3-2 in the City championship match.
