Preservation Parks of Delaware County, an official Explore the Outdoors partner, is working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to enrich children and families through outdoor experiences.

The ODNR's Explore the Outdoors program will provide all Ohio public school first-through-fifth-graders with activity guides that list a variety of outdoor activities and games.

Preservation Parks also has a supply of the guides, which will be distributed to young park visitors. The activities suggested in the booklets can be completed at the parks, which include Big Walnut Community Trail, Blues Creek Preserve, Char-Mar Ridge Preserve, Deer Haven Preserve, Emily Traphagen Preserve, Gallant Woods Preserve and Hogback Ridge Preserve.

Children who complete activities at any of the Preservation Parks locations will find special codes posted at the park's kiosk or welcome center. Children who enter at least two codes on the Explore the Outdoors web site, www.exploretheoutdoorsohio.com, will receive a printable certificate signed by Gov. Ted Strickland. Participants also are eligible for other prizes.

For more information, visit the Explore the Outdoors web site or call (614) 784-PLAY (7529).
