HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties Inc. and the Delaware city police will offer a four-week self-defense course for women and girls age 14 and older.

Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) training will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., starting Thursday, Feb. 4 and continuing on Thursdays through Feb. 28.

Participants must attend all four of the classes to complete the 12 hours required for certification.

The RAD system training is a comprehensive program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. RAD stresses awareness, risk reduction and avoidance progressing on to basic hands-on defense training.

Instructors will be officers Rodney Glazer and Adam Moore of the police department. Both are certified RAD instructors who have offered the course to Ohio Wesleyan University students on an ongoing basis.

HelpLine will have advocates on hand for class members who are sexual assault survivors.

Class participants are encouraged to wear loose-fitting or athletic clothing. To register, contact HelpLine volunteer coordinator Shilo Gall at sgall@helplinedelmor.org or call (614) 507-5703.
