A section of East Central Avenue will be closed to eastbound traffic June 28 to July 1, weather permitting, for street base repairs.

The work will precede a major Ohio Department of Transportation paving project later this summer.

The work will be between "the Point" (the intersection with William Street) and Foley Street. Project hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The established detour route will be Central Avenue to Lake Street to William Street.

Delays should be expected. Motorists may wish to use an alternate route. Westbound traffic will not be affected. Those with questions should call (740) 203-1810.

A public program on health care reform will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, at William Street United Methodist Church, 28 W. William St.

The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Delaware County, and presented by the Ohio Consumers for Health Coverage and Universal Health Care Action Network (UHCAN).

Following the presentation, time will be allotted for questions.

The city of Delaware will save about $7,000 annually in postage by changing how it processes overdue utility accounts.

Beginning in August, the city no longer will mail separate water shut-off notices to customers delinquent on their account.

Instead, customers will receive notification on their regular monthly bill of past-due charges and the service termination date if payment is not made.

Questions can be directed to (740) 203-1250.
