Children's poet to visit library

Children's author and poet J. Patrick Lewis will visit the Delaware County District Library at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14 for a program sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Lewis has published more than 60 children's books, most of them poetry. Among his upcoming releases is his first adult book of poetry, "Gulls Hold Up the Sky: Poems 1983-2010." Also to be published soon is "First Dog's White House Christmas."

Lewis in 2009 collaborated with his daughter, Beth Zappitello, and illustrator Tim Bowers on "First Dog," about a dog who wanders the world searching for a home, only to find one at the White House.

Lewis' program will be aimed at all ages. Immediately following he will sign books, which will be available for purchase.

Those who can't attend the program but would like a signed book may purchase a book at Fundamentals Parent Teacher Bookstore, 25 W. Winter St., through Nov. 13. Lewis will sign the books, which may be picked up at the bookstore.

All proceeds from the program will benefit the Friends of the DCDL. For more information, call the library at (740) 362-3861 or Fundamentals, (740) 363-0290.
