Sharon Robinson, daughter of Major League Baseball legend Jackie Robinson, will read from her most recent book, "Jackie's Gift," from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, at Beehive Books, 25 N. Sandusky St., Delaware.

Robinson will be in Delaware to participate in Ohio Wesleyan University's Branch Rickey Jackie Robinson Week Jan. 24 through 27.

OWU designated the week to celebrate the legacy of the men responsible for breaking MLB's color barrier and settling the stage for the U.S. Civil Rights movement. Rickey is a 1904 OWU graduate.

The celebration includes awarding the university's Branch Rickey Award to Rachel Robinson, Jackie Robinson's widow and Sharon Robinson's mother. In a private ceremony, Sharon Robinson will accept the award on behalf of her mother.

At the bookstore, Sharon Robinson also will sign copies of "Jackie's Gift," a children's book published in October. "Jackie's Gift" tells a true story of Christmas and Hanukkah.

Robinson has written several other books, including "Testing the Ice" and "Jackie's Nine: Jackie Robinson's Values to Live By." These books and others will be available for purchase at the Beehive.
