The following programs are offered at the Community Library, 44 Burrer Drive in Sunbury, unless noted. For information, call (740) 965-3901 or visit community.lib.oh.us. Library hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

• The library is collecting mittens and other cold-weather wraps for its Mitten Tree. Handmade or purchased mittens, gloves, hats and scarves added to the tree will be donated to Big Walnut Friends Who Share. To learn to make your own mittens or other items, attend the 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Knitters Group.

• American Girls: Rebecca, 5:30 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, for second graders and up with accompanying adult. In 1914, Rebecca’s world includes Hanukkah traditions and crocheting. Registration required. Cost is $5 per pair.

• Santa Storytime, 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, all ages welcome to attend a special story time with a craft, refreshments and a visit from Santa himself. Registration is required. Free.

• Christmas Cookie Exchange, 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10. Bring three dozen of one kind of cookie and the recipe. Each participant will receive a recipe booklet with all of the recipes. A great way to get into the holiday spirit, although you don’t have to be present to participate – just drop off the cookies with the recipe card, including your name and phone number. You may also send the information to nicema@oplin.org.

• Manga and Anime 101, 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, for teens and adults. Class is held on the second Saturday of each month. Instructor Nancy Crawford will show students how to draw and animate “Manga style.” Cost of each class is $5. Bring your own laptop or the library will provide one.

• “Gentle Yoga,” 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7 and 14; “Yoga for Beginners and Beyond,” 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14, for teens and adults. Instructor is Leslie Myers. Cost is $5 per class. No preregistration necessary.

• First Thursday Book Club, 7 to 8 p.m., The book for Jan. 5 is “Muffins & Mayhem: Recipes for a Happy, If Disorderly, Life,” by Suzanne Beecher.

• Tuesday Evening Knitters, 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays, for knitting and conversation.

No registration is required and siblings are welcome at the following free weekly programs:

• Babytime, ages 0-23 months, 9:30 a.m. on Mondays. Songs, rhymes and books for infants and toddlers with an accompanying adult.

• Time for Twos, 2-year-olds, 9:45 a.m. on Tuesdays. Books, songs, fingerplay and other activities for children accompanied by an adult.

• Wiggles and Giggles, 3-year-olds, 9:45-10:15 a.m. on Thursdays. Songs, games, crafts and books about colors, numbers, letters and shapes.

• Laugh and Learn, ages 4-6, 10:30-11 a.m. on Thursdays. Books, songs, games and crafts that emphasize early phonics, math, science and critical thinking skills.
