• The Winter Program Guide, featuring more than 40 nature education programs and workshops for December through February, is available now at all Delaware County libraries, chambers of commerce, the Delaware County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and other locations. It is also available at Preservation Parks’ preserves and nature centers, and on-line at www.preservationparks.com.
• Preservation Parks 2012 calendars, featuring full-color photographs taken in the parks, are available for $15 at Beehive Books, 25 N. Sandusky St. in Delaware; the Park District office at 2656 Hogback Road, Sunbury; and at The Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve, 4183 Liberty Road, Delaware. Park programs to publish the week of Dec. 4
• Creature Feature: Winter Birds, 9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10. Enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and a breakfast snack as we watch birds visiting the Mary McCoy Nature Center feeding station. Learn to identify common winter birds, and look for birds outdoors along the trail. Binoculars provided. Hogback Ridge Preserve, 2656 Hogback Road.
• Homeschool Adventures: Winter Bird Feeding, 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. Learn about common birds that visit feeders in the winter and what food they like; then, make a feeder or two to take home. Ages 7-12. Registration required by Dec. 8; e-mail register@preservationparks.com. Deer Haven Preserve, 4183 Liberty Road.
• Model Railroaders Open House, noon to 4 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 4. Enjoy the model train displays at the Trailhouse at Big Walnut Community Trail, 168 S. Vernon St., Sunbury. The drawing for a model train raffle will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4.
• Preschool Park Pals: Gifts for Nature, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, for ages 4 and 5. We’ll make cookies and other treats for the birds, squirrels and deer, and decorate a tree outdoors.
