Pet store offers reward for ripped-off reptile's return

A lizard known as a leatherback bearded dragon was stolen at 1 p.m. Jan. 5 from Delaware Pet Stuff, 81 N. Sandusky St., Delaware police said.

The shop owner said two men entered the shop while she was helping another customer, picked up the lizard and fled.

The lizard retails for $130, but the shop owner is offering a $200 reward for its return.

Police responded to reports of gunshots that turned out to be fireworks, heard about 10:10 p.m. Jan. 8 in the 100 block of South Franklin Street.

An officer investigating the report located two men who were found to be in possession of fireworks, according to reports.

The men were questioned and released, police said.

A Delaware man ran from police in an attempt to avoid arrest on multiple warrants at 10:12 p.m. Jan. 7 in the 300 block of Chelsea Street, police said.

He was arrested about six minutes later following a short chase, according to reports.

Multiple thefts from unlocked vehicles were reported to have occurred between 11 p.m. Jan. 6 and 10 a.m. Jan. 7 along West Central Avenue between North Washington Street and Van Deman Avenue, police said.

A Delaware man was apprehended while attempting to steal a tablet computer at 1:15 p.m. Jan. 7 from a business in the 900 block of Sunbury Road, police said.

The suspect was caught after concealing the item on his person and attempting to leave the store, reports said.

He was served a summons to appear in court and released.

A pair of headphones worth $150 was stolen at 2:40 p.m. Jan. 6 from a business in the 100 block of South Sandusky Street, police said.

A Delaware man said someone stole property from his vehicle between 11:30 p.m. Jan. 6 and 10 a.m. Jan. 7 while it was parked outside his residence in the first block of Griswold Street.

A Delaware man said someone took his wallet from inside his locked vehicle between 11 p.m. Jan. 7 and 5:30 a.m. Jan. 8 while it was parked in his driveway in the first block of Blymer Street, police said.

Multiple items were reported stolen from a vehicle between 9:15 and 10:15 p.m. Jan. 6 while it was parked in the 200 block of North Washington Street, police said.

Sheriff's reports

Stereo equipment worth $325 was stolen between Dec. 15 and Jan. 3 from a residence in the 11700 block of Beacom Road in Sunbury, according to Delaware County Sheriff's reports.

The victim said someone forced entry into the residence and stole a set of speakers, an amp and various wires.
