Demolition of house funded by county grant money
Demolition of the Leffler House at 116 N. Sandusky St. began Friday, March 8.
The house is the property of Delaware County and is being demolished for safety reasons. Plans are to provide additional parking in the new area until a permanent use is identified.
The county studied the economic viability of reusing the house, but the cost was determined to be prohibitive. Delaware's Historical Preservation Commission studied the house and property and decided the house did not have any significant architectural or historic value.
The cost for the demolition is $12,490; funding is coming from the attorney general's Moving Ohio Forward Residential Demolition Program. The funding is part of the $500,000 grant the county received to demolish blighted residential structures.
