Ohio Wesleyan University's Department of Music and the nonprofit recital series Sunday at Central will present a piano master class from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, in OWU's Sanborn Hall, 23 Elizabeth St., Delaware.
Pianist Peter Takacs, a piano professor at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, will teach the class; two OWU students and three Columbus-area high school students will perform and participate in the class, which is free and open to the public.
Takacs, who was born in Bucharest, Romania, was admitted to the Conservatoire National de Paris at age 14. He has performed as a guest soloist with major international orchestras and has participated in numerous music festivals, including Tanglewood, Music Mountain and Chautauqua Institution, among others.
Sunday at Central also will present Takacs with Robert deMaine, principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Columbus Museum of Art. The all-Beethoven program will feature the three sonatas and a set of variations.
