Local residents can dispose of used appliances, computers and cellphones on Saturday, May 11, at Sims Recycling in Delaware.
From 8 a.m. until noon, household appliances including refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, microwaves, stoves, dishwashers, furnaces, ranges and water heaters will be accepted at 65 London Road.
Those dropping off refrigeration appliances are asked not to tamper with Freon lines. Freon removal is free. Sims will pay customers scrap value for appliances.
Televisions, stereos and any type of household hazardous waste will not be accepted. Make certain all data has been removed from the hard drives of used cellphones, computers and peripherals before dropping off such items. Computer monitors will be accepted free of charge.
The event is supported in part by the Delaware General Health District, the Delaware-Knox-Marion-Morrow Solid Waste District and Sims Recycling.
