OWU to celebrate graduation May 12

Ohio Wesleyan University will celebrate its 169th commencement ceremony at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 12, in Phillips Glen, outside Phillips Hall, 50 S. Henry St.

In the event of thunderstorms, the program will move to Gordon Fieldhouse, 105 S. Sandusky St., with overflow seating in the Hamilton-Williams Campus Center's Benes Rooms, 40 Rowland Ave.

OWU alumnus George Conrades will address the graduates. Conrades is the former chief executive officer and current chairman of Akamai Technologies Inc. in Massachusetts and a member of OWU's Class of 1961. His wife is Patricia "Patsy" Belt Conrades, Class of 1963. Two daughters also are OWU graduates: Laura Conrades Wilson (1988) and Anna Conrades (2003).

During the ceremony, OWU's senior class president, Zeke Brechtel of Colorado, also will speak.

A baccalaureate service for the class of 2013 will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in University Hall's Gray Chapel. Both the baccalaureate service and the commencement ceremony will be streamed online and archived at stream.owu.edu.
