Police: Shooting not connected to school
Man shot after altercation near Woodward
Joshua Mosley Jr., 18, was arrested Thursday night, May 2, by Delaware police after he allegedly shot another teenager on the playground of Woodward Elementary School, police reports said.
Darrell Ginyard, 19, was shot following reports of an altercation May 2 near the basketball court at the school, 200 S. Washington St., police said. Ginyard was taken by helicopter to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for surgery, but his condition was unknown Friday morning, May 3.
Officers responded to an initial report of the fight at about 8:15 p.m. May 2.
Upon arrival, police discovered Ginyard had suffered a gunshot wound, reports said. Mosley was located nearby and arrested.
Several other individuals found in the area were detained and questioned, said Delaware police Capt. Adam Moore.
Mosley, whose address was listed as King's Realm Avenue in Columbus, was arraigned May 3 and charged with felonious assault. Other charges could come as the result of an investigation, Moore said.
Officers were present at Woodward Elementary School the morning of May 3 to reassure parents and teachers.
The incident had no direct link to the elementary school, police said.
"The actual shooting had nothing to do with the school," Moore said. "There is no connection to the elementary school other than the fact that it happened on school property."
