Strand's campaign enters public phase

Monday June 10, 2013 11:41 AM

The Strand Theatre has entered the public phase of its "A Century of Cinema" capital campaign.

Funds raised will support the continuing restoration of the movie house, now operated by the Strand Theatre and Cultural Arts Association, a 501(c) (3) organization.

In January, the Delaware County Bank contributed $125,000 to help refurbish the Strand's side theater, which now has new flooring, wall coverings, seating and lighting in addition to the new screen, sound system and digital projection installed earlier. A commitment from OhioHealth is allowing the theater to begin additional projects.

Other recent improvements include new restrooms, an enhanced lobby that includes an exterior glass wall, the restoration of the lighted marquee, and a new screen in the main theater.

Tax-deductible contributions for the theater's renovation may be made by contacting Sue Bennington or Jack Hilborn, co-chairs of the fundraising campaign.

Call Bennington at 740-369-6243 or Hilborn at 740-369-9641. Mail contributions may be sent to P.O. Box 111, Delaware 43015.
