Delaware: Theft suspect caught by neighbors

Delaware police were able to apprehend a thief July 16 after witnesses caught her taking items from an unlocked vehicle, according to reports.

Residents of an apartment complex in the first block of Muirfield Village Drive called police at 9:30 p.m. July 16 to report a fellow resident's suspicious behavior, reports said. When police stopped the woman, they found she had stolen $3 and an unopened pack of cigarettes from a vehicle, according to reports.

The same day, police were called to another apartment complex in the 1300 block of Middlesex Lane when a resident's cellphone, valued at $400, reportedly was stolen from the shared pool area between 8 and 8:20 p.m.

In other recent Delaware police reports:

* An electronic scooter was reported stolen from the front yard of a home in the first block of David Street. Reports said the toy, valued at $280, went missing between 9 and 9:30 p.m. July 23.

A resident of the same block notified police July 21 that his vehicle allegedly had been stolen by someone who was spending the night at his home. According to reports, the vehicle was found about 12:20 a.m. the next day when the thief crashed the car in Marion.
