Woodcarving classes set by Preservation Parks
Preservation Parks of Delaware County will host two six-week woodcarving classes at Deer Haven Preserve, 4183 Liberty Road.
Intro to Woodcarving will teach participants how to choose the proper wood, how to use and take care of woodcarving tools and how to complete a project. The fee of $45 includes all tools and materials.
Bas Relief Woodcarving will teach participants how to carve pictures and scenes on a flat wooden background. The $55 fee includes chisels and materials. Other basic equipment, including a carving knife, glove, thumb guard and sharpening strap, are necessary. Participants can purchase these items for an extra $30.
Both classes run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26 and on Oct. 3 and 10. John Beech, Tom Hindes and Dave Thomas are the instructors.
