Delaware: Burglar strikes during woman's quick run to store

A Delaware woman returned to her residence after a trip to the store last week to find toys and electronics missing.

The woman told Delaware police someone entered her unlocked residence between 10 and 10:15 a.m. March 14 in the 500 block of Sunbury Road while she was at the grocery store.

She said an unknown suspect took two children's bikes, a video-game console and a laptop computer. The value of the missing property is estimated at $1,327.

An investigation is ongoing, according to reports.

In other recent Delaware police reports:

* A man reported a burglary that occurred between Dec. 25 and March 15 in the 1600 block of West William Street. He said cash and jewelry worth $14,325 were stolen from the residence.

* A woman reported a burglary that took place between 9:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. March 14 in the first block of Spring Street. She said a known suspect entered her residence and stole $70 from a purse.

* A burglary took place between 11:30 p.m. March 18 and 7 a.m. March 19 in the 1700 block of Ashburn Drive, reports said. The victim said someone entered her house and removed a purse containing $500 cash, $100 worth of makeup and other items.

* A woman reported a burglary that occurred between 2 and 3 a.m. March 10 in the 300 block of Cobblestone Drive. The woman said someone entered her residence through the garage and took two purses valued at $300. The purses reportedly contained two wallets, three pairs of glasses and $100 cash.

* A man reported a burglary that occurred between 11:45 p.m. March 18 and 5 a.m. March 19 in the 200 block of Lofton Circle. The man said an unknown suspect entered his residence and stole a purse and electronics.

* A woman reported a theft from a vehicle that occurred between 1:40 and 1:45 p.m. March 13 in the 300 block of East Winter Street. She said her vehicle was parked in front of a business when an unknown suspect stole a purse, two wallets, a smartphone, a stun gun, 25 antihistamine pills and $5 cash from her vehicle. The estimated value of the property is $566, reports said.

* A man reported theft from a vehicle that occurred between 5 p.m. March 12 and 1:15 a.m. March 13 in the 200 block of Seatrain Drive. He said an unknown suspect stole $415 worth of restaurant gift cards from the vehicle.

* Two women reported a theft that occurred between 7 a.m. March 11 and 8:30 a.m. March 14 in the 300 block of North Union Street. They said a known suspect stole $447 cash and 25 painkillers.

* A woman living in the 200 block of Hayfield Drive reported a case of identity theft that occurred between 5 p.m. March 8 and 9:30 p.m. March 10. She said someone used a credit card in her name to make a purchase in Columbus.

* A business in the 400 block of South Sandusky Street reported receiving a counterfeit bill in payment at 9:30 a.m. March 18.
