Two men have been upgraded to stable condition following a helicopter crash Thursday afternoon, April 24, on the border of Delaware and Union counties.

Sgt. Robert Curry of the Delaware post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a kit helicopter crashed about 12:45 p.m. April 24 in Leesburg Township in Union County.

Two men survived the crash and were flown by medical helicopter to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

They were identified by the patrol as Henry H. Brecher, 81, of Columbus and Todd M. Cramer, 50, of Dublin. Authorities said they do not know which man was piloting the helicopter at the time of the crash.

The crash ignited a fire in a nearby field that was quickly extinguished by multiple fire departments, officials said.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Neel and Welch roads in Union County, at the Delaware County line. Initially, investigators believed the crash occurred in Thompson Township, a northwest Delaware County township that borders Leesburg Township.
