Delaware: Drugs, handgun found in Grove City resident's car

A Grove City man faces multiple charges after Delaware police allegedly found drugs and a gun in his car during a recent traffic stop.

An officer performed a routine traffic stop in the area of Troy Road and West Central Avenue about 9 p.m. June 13, according to police reports.

After interacting with the driver and searching his vehicle, the officer discovered a handgun, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, reports said.

The suspect was charged with improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree misdemeanor; use or possession of marijuana paraphernalia, a minor misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance, according to police reports.

In other recent police reports:

* Police responded about 1:45 p.m. June 14 to a report of a dog running loose in the 400 block of West William Street.

The dog got loose from its owner's property, attacked another dog and bit a man, according to police reports. The attacking dog then was killed by its owner, reports said.

No arrests were made, according to police reports.

* Police are investigating a possible arson after a trash container caught fire behind a business between 6 and 6:30 a.m. June 13 in the first block of Lake Street, according to police reports.

* A man reported theft from a motor vehicle that occurred between 4 and 4:30 p.m. June 13 at a business in the 1300 block of Sunbury Road. A mattress valued at $200 was stolen from the back of a truck, according to police reports.

* A man reported his wallet was stolen between 1:30 and 1:45 p.m. June 15 at a business in the 2000 block of U.S. Route 23. An unknown suspect took the wallet, which contained credit cards and $150 in cash, according to police reports.
