The Delaware County Home Economists organization will host a reception to celebrate 50 years in the community from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Summit Room at Willow Brook West, 100 Delaware Crossing West, Delaware.

Eight of the group's founding members remain active in the organization and will receive special recognition at the reception.
Ruth Dohner, program coordinator of the Family and Consumer Sciences department at Ohio State University, will speak on Family and Consumer Sciences education and Barbara Brahm, interim director of the OSU Southwest Region Extension Department, will discuss Delaware County Extension programs.
The name of the profession was changed to Family and Consumer Sciences in 1994. According to information from the Delaware County Home Economists organization, 22 teachers offer Family and Consumer Sciences classes in Delaware County.
