Rumpke Waste & Recycling will remove all recycling containers from Buckeye Valley East Elementary School due to construction beginning Jan. 23.

Oxford Township and Ashley village residents are encouraged to take recycling to Westfield Township Hall, 848 County Road, Ashley. Paper and cardboard must be kept separate from other recyclables at this location.

Big Walnut Nature Club recognized

The Big Walnut Nature Club recently was awarded the 2016 Community Stewardship Award by Keep Delaware County Beautiful.

The club was recognized for its conservation efforts in the Galena area, improving the natural habitat, educational programs, and osprey and prothonotary warbler conservation activities through spring and fall trash-collection events.

'Freedom' features American icons' personal letters

The Delaware County District Library will host the exhibit "Freedom: A History of Us" from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History from Monday, Jan. 9, through Feb. 5 at the Main Library, 84 E. Winter St.

The exhibition marks the first public display of many personal letters and documents, including a printing of the Declaration of Independence, a secretly printed draft of the U.S. Constitution, Abraham Lincoln's handwritten speech notes and letters by Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony and Martin Luther King Jr.

An open house will be held to celebrate the legacy of King from 2 to 5 p.m. Jan. 16.
