Big Walnut High School senior Shane Facemyer signed Feb. 6 to play men’s soccer at Ohio Dominican University.
“I’m really excited,” he said. “It’s always been a goal of mine to play college soccer.”
The Panthers are a Division II program and compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Facemyer, a four-year varsity player, had 12 goals and three assists and was first-team all-OCC-Capital Division last season while helping lead the Golden Eagles to a 12-7-1 overall record. They lost to Watterson 2-1 in a Division II district final.
“I think he has all the tools necessary to have a good college career,” former boys soccer coach Brett Weiss said. “Shane can see the game – the runs off the ball, making space – these concepts that are abstract. He gets that part and can relax into that quite well.”
