Big Walnut football players sign
Big Walnut High School seniors Carson Chatterton and Julian Simon signed letters of intent Feb. 6 to play football in college.
Chatterton will play quarterback for the University of Dayton, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision.
“It feels great,” he said. “It feels like I’ve accomplished my goals. It’s relieving to know I have a place and good atmosphere for the next four years of my life.”
Last season for the Golden Eagles, Chatterton was 78-for-146 passing for 971 yards and eight touchdowns and ran 93 times for 314 yards and four scores.
“He’s a very driven kid, a goal-oriented kid,” Big Walnut coach Joe Weaver said. “He’s not afraid to work his tail off and he’s going to work until he gets it. He’s got a very bright future.”
Simon, an offensive and defensive lineman, signed with Division II Urbana University, joining 2012 Big Walnut graduate Trent Fielding.
“It’s always been a goal in my life to play college ball,” Simon said.
“(Urbana) is a great fit for him,” Weaver said of Simon. “He’s a hardworking kid. Physically, he’s going to be right in the mix when he gets there.”
