The Delaware Christian School girls basketball team lost to top-seeded Newark Catholic 50-26 in a Division IV district semifinal Feb. 27 at Whitehall to finish 16-8.
The Eagles, who were seeded ninth of 20 teams in the district, trailed 16-5 after the first quarter and 30-12 at halftime.
Katie Morgan had nine points to lead Delaware Christian and Bethany Kuykendall scored five.
Jill Blacksten had 24 points to lead Newark Catholic, which improved to 23-2 and played fourth-seeded Fairfield Christian in a district final March 1.
Boys basketball team falls to Green Wave
The boys basketball team lost to second-seeded Newark Catholic 49-29 in the second round of the Division IV district tournament Feb. 26 to finish 6-16.
The Eagles, who were seeded 20th of 21 teams and had a first-round bye, were outscored 19-7 in the first quarter and 30-22 over the final three quarters.
Ben Evans had 11 points and Austin Roden scored 10 to lead the Eagles, who were outscored 12-3 at the free-throw line.
