Dublin Mayor Marilee Chinnici-Zuercher is the newest recipient of the Leadership Dublin Shillelagh Award.

Former recipient Diane Seiple selected Chinnici-Zuercher for the award, which was presented June 5.

"I chose her because she was a founding member and supports all of our activities," Seiple said. "Also, she has nurtured and cultivated the program and developed community members."

To receive the award an individual must express a specific vision for Leadership Dublin and realize that vision by proposing, developing and implementing a plan or project.

The recipient is chosen solely by the preceding year's winner.

The award, given since 2001, recognizes an individual who demonstrates and models the leadership qualities promoted by Leadership Dublin.

"When the recipient receives the award, they receive a shillelagh, which is a walking stick that was donated in 2001 by Ha'penney Bridge Imports," executive director Tom Holton said.

Leadership Dublin, founded in 1995, has been developed to enhance the leadership knowledge and skills of leaders in the community.
