Dublin City Council announced last week that it is soliciting proposals from search firms to assist in finding a replacement for City Manager Jane Brautigam, who is leaving for a job in Colorado.

Proposals are expected to be submitted to the city by Friday so council can vote to select a firm at its meeting Tuesday. To learn the results of the vote, visit the Dublin community page of ThisWeekNews.com on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

The city used a search firm when it hired Brautigam in 2002.

"Dublin has used search firms in the past that have complemented our own internal search process," public affairs officer Michelle Fessler said.

Council adjourned from an executive session that lasted about 30 minutes Aug. 22 to announce its intent to hire a search firm and to direct staff to update the community profile booklet used in the city manager search process, Fessler said.

The booklet describes Dublin, its population, its boards and commissions and details expectations of the city manager.

"It helps us market the position and the community," Fessler said.

Council hasn't revealed much about its plans to replace Brautigam, holding two executive sessions to discuss the matter but making little public comment.

Brautigam accepted the city manager's job in Boulder, Colo., earlier this month. Her last day as Dublin city manager is Sept. 26.
