The Dublin Board of Education accepted the resignation of Tim Barton at its Sept. 23 meeting.

Barton is the former principal of Grizzell Middle School and most recently was named a teacher with the district's new alternative education program for high school students in danger of dropping out.

Barton is leaving to assume an elementary principal's position with South-Western City Schools. He will remain in Dublin through Sept. 30, said Superintendent David Axner.

The position will be filled on a "short term" basis, Axner said, while the district looks for a permanent replacement.

Also at the meeting, the board approved a resolution creating a five-year curriculum review cycle that will require a thorough review of all curriculum content areas, and the materials/textbooks used to teach classes with those subjects, every five years.
