The Ohio Historical Society will host historian and author Gary Ecelbarger in honor of Lincoln's 200 th birthday, Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.
Ecelbarger will analyze the political timing and strategy of Lincoln's campaign in Ohio in a lecture titled "Abraham Lincoln Under the Radar: The 1859 Ohio Trip and its Impact on his Presidential Election." The audience will enjoy a historical tale of perseverance, as well as an in-depth look at the stage presence of this iconic American figure. Ecelbarger is author and co-author of several nonfiction books and articles about events and personalities which were prominent in the mid-1800s. His most recent book, "The Great Comeback: How Abraham Lincoln Beat the Odds to Win the 1860 Republican Nomination," will be available for purchase at the lecture. Afterward, Ecelbarger will be available for a book signing.
The event is free with cost of admission to the Ohio Historical Center. Admission fees are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $4 for youth (ages 6-12) and free for OHS members and children five and under. Parking is $4 for the general public and free for OHS members.
