The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Franklin County has announced several upcoming classes.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Franklin County has announced several upcoming classes.

"Hand to Hand," a nine-week class for parents of minor children with a mental illness, will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays March 31 through May 26, at Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 7 W. Henderson Road.

"Family to Family" a 12-week course for families and friends of adults with mental illness, will meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 1 through June 17, at the NAMI Ohio office, 747 E. Broad St.

An additional "Family to Family" class for family members of veterans will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays April 16 through July 2 at the Veterans Clinic, 420 N. James Road.

The 15th annual Columbus Pet Expo will be held Friday through Sunday, March 27-29, at Veterans Memorial.

Special events at the expo will include:

Joel Silverman, the 2008 Trainer of the Year and host of Animal Planet's "Good Dog U," will conduct fun-filled and informative dog training seminars.

Jerry Lee Parker, the "Common Sense Horse Trainer," will serve as host in the Equestrian area, where visitors will also find Hugs 2 Horses and Lost Acres Rescue and Rehab.

A competition featuring Buckeye Dock Dogs.

The Classic K-9 show in the main arena, a pet runway fashion show, and a dress-up-your-pet competition.

Reptiles, birds and pets of many other kinds will also be represented. Pet food companies will hand out samples, and an "Ask the Vet" booth will answer pet health questions.

The Columbus Pet Expo supports more than 30 pet rescues and humane societies. Discount tickets to the expo are available at Kroger stores and Complete Petmart.
