The Delaware County Master Gardeners Association will hold its ninth annual Green Thumbs Gardeners' Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28.

The event will be held at Olentangy Liberty High School, 3584 Home Road.

Each year, hundreds of visitors enjoy speakers, vendors, food, entertainment, raffles and door prizes, said master gardener Norma Lind.

This year's event will feature two keynote speakers. At 10:45 a.m., "Edible Landscaping" will be presented by Gary Gao, Ohio State University Extension educator and associate professor.

At 1:30 p.m. "Unique Landscape Concepts for All Areas" will be discussed by Marvin Duren, landscape manager of Marvin's Organic Gardens in Lebanon, Ohio.

Other lecture topics will include floral design, Japanese maples and dwarf conifers, vegetable gardens, herbs, water gardens and annuals.

Reusable promotional bags will be distributed at the door to the first 300 people.

Admission is $7 per person; children under 12 are free.

More than 45 gardening-related vendors will display merchandise and plants for sale.

The Delaware County Master Gardener program was started in 1994 by Rob Leeds, Delaware County Extension agent.

Classes are held in February and March and provide intensive training in horticulture to interested gardeners who then volunteer by assisting with educational programs and activities through the Ohio State Extension office.

More than 300 active volunteers have contributed more than 30,000 hours in community service and activities.
